Drowned Out

Drowned

Every time it’s said,

the pool continues to fill.

Every time the words drop from his lips

the water climbs higher.

She shivers because the water has gone cold.

At first she doesn’t notice

so much water

so much water.

It fills the tank and

she doesn’t notice because

her head is in the clouds and

her eyes are blinded with stars and

her mind is missing clarity and

the tank is filling

the tank is filling…

Every time he says it

the water flows,

scalding hot and burning and

it goes unnoticed.

Then it cools.

Stop saying it.

Stop saying it!

STOP SAYING IT!

No..?

The tank fills up and

her lungs fill up and

she floats lifeless in

all

that

love.
